PCG Academia to implement Anthology Ally at Karkonosze University of Applied Sciences in Jelenia Góra
20 May 2026 3 min readingAccessibility in education is no longer an add-on—it is becoming the standard. The Karkonosze University of Applied Sciences in Jelenia Góra is consistently driving this change by investing in solutions that genuinely improve comfort and equal access to knowledge. In line with this approach, the university has signed an agreement with PCG Academia to implement the Anthology Ally tool, which will extend the capabilities of the Moodle platform in the area of digital accessibility and support the development of an educational environment open to all users.
The implementation is carried out as part of the project “KANS – A University Accessible to All”, co-financed by the European Funds for Social Development. This initiative aims not only to develop infrastructure but, above all, to create a barrier-free university—one where every student, regardless of their needs, has equal access to learning materials and the educational process.
Extending Moodle with Anthology Ally
A key component of the project is the enhancement of Moodle with the Ally solution. Under the agreement, Anthology Ally will be implemented to support the development of the e-learning platform in line with WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines. PCG Academia is responsible for deployment, integration with Moodle, and ongoing maintenance, updates, and hosting. The project also includes staff training to ensure effective use of the new features and to further improve the accessibility of teaching materials.
Technology supporting accessibility
Anthology Ally is a solution that significantly enhances digital accessibility in education. The tool automatically analyzes course materials and enables their conversion into multiple formats, such as audio, ePub, HTML5, and electronic Braille. This allows students to access content in the way that best suits their needs. Ally also provides instructors with detailed feedback on the accessibility level of their materials, along with guidance on how to improve them. Its reporting system makes it possible to monitor accessibility at the level of the entire institution, as well as individual courses or users, supporting continuous improvement.
Accessibility as a standard of a modern university
The importance of implementing such tools goes beyond technology. It is, above all, an investment in equal opportunities and inclusive education. Ensuring full access to learning materials for people with disabilities not only meets formal requirements but also helps build a modern, socially responsible university that actively removes barriers to knowledge.
