We are pleased to announce that the Zentralbibliothek Zürich (ZB) has entrusted PCG Academia with the responsibility for the further development of the Zurich Open Platform (ZOP)—a digital repository that has been used since 2021 to make the library’s unique collections available to the public.

As part of this collaboration, PCG Academia will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and further optimizing the platform, supporting the Zentralbibliothek Zürich in fulfilling its mission related to digitization, the preservation of cultural heritage, and increasing the accessibility of its collections to users from around the world.

This is a special honor for us, as the Zentralbibliothek Zürich is one of Switzerland’s most important library institutions, combining the functions of a cantonal, municipal, and university library.

Zurich Open Platform – Digital Heritage Accessible to Everyone

The Zurich Open Platform was launched in 2021 as a space for publishing and sharing the digital resources of the Zentralbibliothek Zürich. The repository collects both born-digital materials and digitized historical collections, including, among others, collections from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The platform provides users with access to valuable scholarly, historical, and cultural materials, supporting the development of open science and the digital accessibility of library heritage.

Platform Development and New Capabilities

As part of this collaboration, PCG Academia will support the further development of the Zurich Open Platform, focusing, among other things, on increasing the efficiency of digitization processes, expanding the capabilities for presenting collections, and improving analytical tools.

Planned activities include streamlining the digitization workflow and developing resource usage statistics. Another key aspect of this work will be preparing the environment for future updates to the DSpace system.

Thanks to these efforts, the Zurich Open Platform will be able to support the sharing of digital resources even more effectively and meet the needs of today’s library users, researchers, and cultural institutions.

We Support Libraries in Their Digital Transformation

Our collaboration with the Zentralbibliothek Zürich is another PCG Academia project focused on developing modern solutions for libraries, academic institutions, and organizations managing digital heritage.

Our experience in the areas of repository platforms, open science, and DSpace-based systems allows us to support organizations in building secure, scalable, and user-friendly spaces for storing and sharing knowledge.

We thank the Zentralbibliothek Zürich for their trust. We are delighted to be working together to develop the Zurich Open Platform and to support even broader access to exceptional digital resources.
