PCG Academia will implement the DSpace Scientific Repository at the Mazovian Academy in Płock
6 October 2025 3 min readingThe Mazovian Academy in Płock joins the group of leading Polish universities using the DSpace scientific repository. Under the agreement signed, PCG Academia will implement the latest version of the system, adapting it to the specific needs of the university. In the coming years, we will be responsible not only for the development and maintenance of the repository, but also for ongoing software updates published by the LYRASIS consortium.

About the project
The project, worth over PLN 2 million, is being carried out as part of the “Accessibility without borders at the Mazovian Academy in Płock” project, submitted to the “Universities increasingly accessible” competition. The project highlights the university’s commitment to ensuring equal access to knowledge for people with disabilities and special needs. The DSpace repository meets the requirements of the WCAG 2.2 standard, which guarantees full accessibility of data, materials, and publications for all users.
PCG Academia will provide the university with comprehensive support – from implementation and integration with key databases (such as ORCID, Scopus, and Web of Science), through migration of existing resources, to further development and maintenance of the solution. As a result, the repository will not only organize and secure the institution’s scientific output, but also significantly increase its visibility on the international stage.
DSpace repository
DSpace is one of the pillars of the global open access infrastructure. Since its inception, it has become the most popular repository system in the world, serving as a universal tool for archiving and disseminating scientific achievements. Its advantage stems not only from its open code and broad community support, but also from its full compliance with global interoperability standards, which ensures maximum reach and visibility for publications.
DSpace is used by thousands of institutions – from libraries and research centers to prestigious universities such as Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University, and the University of Washington. In Poland, repositories based on this platform are being developed by, among others, the Jagiellonian University, the University of Warsaw, SWPS University, the Lublin University of Technology, and the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin – all in cooperation with PCG Academia. These examples confirm that DSpace is not just an IT system, but a platform that truly supports the development of open science and the global circulation of knowledge.
