For the fourth year, students in Papua New Guinea high schools are using the National Online Application System to apply for acceptance to one of 56 institutions of Higher Education in the country. This year, 30 000 candidates are applying for 14 000 places. Like in most countries worldwide, the highest competition is for medical programs, with Lae School of Nursing averaging 71 applications for each available place.  Within 40 of 100 days assigned for application, 60% of the students have made their choices. Application speed is a significant achievement of PNG Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, which – despite COVID-19 restrictions –  runs an extensive information and support campaign in 219 secondary schools in the country.  PCG Academia is proud to provide the software used in the application and selection processes.
